Youth Allies Local Government Elections Voters Education Campaign

Between March and June 2023, the GCOPD’s Youth Allies conducted a Voters Education Mobile Fair in 16 different locations in regions 2,3,4,5 and 6. The fair aimed to educate young people on their rights and responsibilities as voters and engage them in the political process.

The fair featured various activities, including games and quizzes on civic education and engagement, voter registration, and the importance of voting. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the political environment in Guyana and the importance of participating in the democratic process.

The Youth Allies stated that the goal of the mobile fair was to encourage more young people to become involved in the political process and to promote the importance of civic education and engagement. They expressed hope that the mobile fair would help to increase the number of young people who are registered to vote and encourage them to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.

The GCOPD’s Youth Allies stated that they would continue to engage young people and persons with disabilities in the democratic process and promote their rights and participation in the political life of Guyana.

The GCOPD expressed hope that the event would help to increase voter literacy and encourage more young people to register to vote and exercise their right to participate in the democratic process.

The organization stated that it is committed to empowering young people and promoting their rights and participation in the political life of Guyana.
