On April 14th, 2023, the Guyana Council of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities (GCOPD), along with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) officially handed over computers and a printer to the National Vocational Learning Center for Persons with Disabilities (NVCL-PD).
The donation was part of the GCOPD’s ongoing efforts to support the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities in Guyana and to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to live independently. The computers and printer will be used to train persons with disabilities in various vocational skills, including computer programming, graphic design, and accounting, among others.
Note: The NVCL-PD is a government institution that offers vocational training and support services to persons with disabilities in Guyana. The center was established to provide skills training and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, enabling them to pursue sustainable employment and lead independent and fulfilling lives.
The GCOPD’s donation of computers and a printer will help to enhance the training and education programs offered by the NVCL-PD, providing persons with disabilities with the tools and resources they need to develop their skills and achieve their career goals.
